No matter who sits on the board, airport staff still must run Memphis International Airport safely and efficiently, says the MSCAA board chair and the airport’s CEO.
Bill Dunavant, a household name in the Memphis business community and sixth-generation Memphian, was recently elected to the St. Louis Fed’s Board of Directors.
Spirit entered this market in April 2022 with daily nonstops to Las Vegas and Orlando.
The airline’s other Memphis destinations are Atlanta, Baltimore, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Orlando and Phoenix.
The increase in revenue will be supplemented by the federal Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriation Act funding and surplus funds that will carry over from 2023.

American Airlines announced it will launch nonstop service between MEM and Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) starting in January.
“Scott’s impact on the success of MEM cannot be understated,” said the chair of the Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority board.
“The MSCAA staff has overcome many challenges that resulted from the pandemic,” said the chair of the airport authority’s board.
Spirit becomes the ninth airline serving Memphis. It will operate 182-seat Airbus A320 aircraft for its flights.
Top Notch Security has been the subcontractor on airport security for 15 years. The new contract has different requirements, according to security changes coming to the airport.
