A group of organizations representing some of Memphis’ brightest minds are working to expand access to STEM education for students who have been historically underrepresented in science-related careers.

Shelby County Schools mostly relies on district-employed school resource officers as security staff. They do not carry guns but have pepper spray, the district said.
Returning some amount of city government funding to Shelby County Schools would not necessarily mean a return to state requirements to keep that funding level.
