Bistros, absinthe and good-time girls: Discover Parisian cafe culture at the Dixon

Depictions of bistros, absinthe and good-time girls trace the rise of Parisian cafe culture at the Dixon Gallery & Garden’s next exhibition.

More than 50 works are organized in sections like “Femme Au Cafe” (women’s depictions of cafe life) and “Intoxication and Isolation” (paintings of patrons drinking alcohol, especially absinthe). An oversized map of Paris shows the real locations of cafes depicted in the works.

Many of the cafes represented in the paintings still exist.
