Buster’s Liquor co-owner Josh Hammond and the owners of two other nearby liquor stores filed an appeal with the City Council seeking to overturn the recent decision by the Memphis Alcohol Commission that granted approval to The Station, a proposed high-end liquor store that’s less than 2 miles from the Buster’s location in East Memphis.

Hammond and the others filed the appeal with the city comptroller Jan. 16, according to a copy of the letter sent by his attorney, Brian Yoakum.

The group had 10 days to appeal the Jan. 7 decision from the Alcohol Commission, according to the city charter. It’s uncertain, however, when the City Council is expected to hear the appeal.
