Google officials Tuesday, April 28, announced $25 million in grants to help with energy-efficient projects and to make utility costs more affordable for Crittenden County, Arkansas, residents.
West Memphis, Memphis and other regional leaders gathered at the Mayor Joyce Ferguson Civic Center, saying Google’s investment should benefit the entire region as residents grapple with an increase in their day-to-day bills, including utilities.
The $25 million will be distributed throughout the next five years with $5 million included in the first round. The money will go to Crowley’s Ridge Development Council, Groundswell and a partnership among Google, ICF and Entergy Arkansas.
