‘The privilege’ of taking care of veterans: New VA medical director talks challenges, gifts of leading facility

When Edward Payton was interviewing and finalizing a move to become executive director and CEO of the Memphis VA Medical Center, it was an opportunity to come home.
Payton, 38, is originally from Jackson, Mississippi. He met his wife, Arielle, in New Orleans. And he got his master’s degree in health care at the University of Mississippi.
