Is the bus still running? Social media star calling out ‘shockingly unusable’ state of local public transit
“I’m seeing that people want ways to get around outside of a car,” Kelsey Huse said. “And I think my page is really inspiring them and helping them see that they’re not the only one who thinks this way.” (Courtesy Kelsey Huse)
When Kelsey Huse first came to Memphis in 2024, she had already experienced transportation and biking infrastructure in multiple cities nationwide.
Huse moved here to be closer to her sister and her kids along with beginning studies as a graduate student at the University of Memphis, working on a master’s degree in city and regional planning. She grew up in Enid, Oklahoma, so she knew about poor transit options.
But when she got here, she found the transportation options were “shockingly unusable” — even compared to cities like Austin, Texas, where transit can be unreliable, she said.
