Daily Jigsaw: Mt. Carmel cleanup
In the decades since Kathleen Baker was buried in Mt. Carmel cemetery in 1991, her headstone has disappeared, leaving her exact resting place unknown.
That troubles Amelia Cole, who would like to know precisely where her sister is buried and what happened to the headstone. But even without that information, Cole felt a sense of peace Saturday morning, Feb. 21, at the South Memphis cemetery.
“Today is beautiful,” Cole said, then seemed to speak directly to her sister: “Just knowing that we haven’t forgotten you even though we can’t find your exact spot. We know you’re here, and we’re here to take care of you.”
