The Beauty Shop restaurant owner Karen Carrier loves to travel for inspiration.
“Every opportunity I had,” she said recently, “I got on the road. It was important for me to keep learning.”
Though she grew up in Memphis, she’s worked with people from all over the world. She lived in New York in the ’80s before moving home and opening a catering company in the Bluff City.
She opened The Beauty Shop in 2002 and, since then, it’s become something of a Cooper-Young landmark. It’s also caught the eye of food and dining publications such as Restaurateur, OpenTable and Gourmet magazine.
