Daily Jigsaw: South Memphis ‘Reflections’
A new sculpture is meant to represent South Memphis’ illustrious past and the community’s view of an even brighter future.
“Reflections,” designed by local artist Arnold Thompson, was erected in the 6-acre L.E. Brown Park in South City. The park, located at 617 S. Orleans St., contains a multicolored playground and adjoining pool.
The “Reflections” sculpture consists of four iridescent steel pillars, meant to represent ascension or forward movement, with a mirrored orb at its base around which a poem by local poet Njeri Fombi is inscribed in tile.
