So far this year, more than 40% of all dogs taken in by Memphis Animal Services have been euthanized.
That statistic is based on publicly reported numbers available on the MAS website, which show that from January through June of this year, the facility took in 2,610 dogs.
During that same period, MAS euthanized 1,047 dogs, or 40.1% of the total intake, including hundreds in repeated outbreaks of parvovirus that have plagued the city-run facility this year.
