Memphis Zoo one of 40 across the country hit with bomb threats

Just before 2:30 p.m. on April 4, 2026, someone called the Memphis Zoo, claiming they had planted a bomb on the 76-acre property.
Zoo officials called the Memphis police. Police searched for a bomb but eventually determined the call was a hoax. The zoo remained closed for the rest of that day.
