Believe Memphis weighs closure allowing Grizzlies Prep a larger South Memphis campus

Downtown’s Grizzlies Prep may relocate to a larger campus in South Memphis this fall when it opens its new charter school for girls.
But the relocation would be possible because of the closure of another charter school, Believe Memphis Academy, which is currently in the building at 2230 Corry Road.
Boards for each charter operator are expected to vote on the proposal in the coming weeks, according to interviews with officials at each school.
Officials have said they hope that coordination between the two charter operators eases the potential closure experience for some Believe Memphis students. Some middle school students at Believe’s existing K-8 campus — which has a total enrollment of about 500 — would be eligible to stay in the building by enrolling with the Grizzlies Prep schools.
