Ask the Memphian: Do I have to pay a ticket from a traffic camera?

Jim Spake was driving down McLean Avenue in Midtown at 27 mph when a traffic camera snapped a photo.

Spake had no idea he’d been caught by the camera until a citation arrived in the mail a few weeks later, telling him he’d been going too fast in a school zone.

Ask the Memphian: How did the U of M law school end up in the old Custom House?

He uttered a few choice words but ultimately mailed in a check for the $50. It was the second time he’d paid such a ticket, and each time left him fuming.
