Homicides down 44.5% in Memphis as police chief credits new strategies

Memphis Police Chief C.J. Davis told members of the Rotary Club of Memphis last week that the city is on track to record its lowest overall crime levels in 25 years.
During a Tuesday, Aug. 11, presentation at the Pink Palace Museum, Davis outlined changes within the Memphis Police Department that she said have contributed to the decline.
She said major offenses, including homicide, aggravated assault, robbery and burglary, have declined significantly compared to previous years.
