Good morning, Shelby County. It’s Wednesday, Aug. 6, and kids from Germantown and Millington schools are back to class.
The Shelby County Commission meets in committee sessions today, where they’ll tackle, among other topics, big changes to Memphis-Shelby County Schools board elections. And if golf is your cup of tee (eh?), you probably already know that the FedEx St. Jude Championship starts today.
There’s also an artist info session tonight about a plan to bring puppets to local parks.
Librarians want to unionize: Memphis’ public librarians wants the same protections that other city employees get.
MATA money: Memphis Area Transit Authority’s interim leader said agency’s former leadership spent more than a million dollars in federal funds it didn’t have.
Police or potholes? Memphis Mayor Paul Young wants the Memphis City Council to approve $900,000 for an “integrity in policing” task force. But some City Council members have other ideas.
