The historic, renovated building housing the sophisticated designer-clothes and lifestyle store has been sold to real estate investors who plan to find another business tenant.

LPI Memphis, the owner of Overton Square, plans to build a three-story, 18-unit apartment building in the entertainment and dining district.

The first 11 grants, totaling $62,500, were approved Friday, May 1, under the Economic Development Growth Engine's new program to aid small, inner-city businesses struggling because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Arrow, the nonprofit organization that supports artists in multiple ways, has decided to drop its bid for Overton Park's Rust Hall and instead build a permanent, $10 million facility in the Broad Avenue Arts District.

Friends for Life will open The Corner on Nov. 4, providing free testing for sexually transmitted infections. The community space will feature a pharmacy and offer PEP, PrEP, STI testing and education. Local art will be for sale in the space.

North Carolina-based developer requests the Board of Adjustment to review its plan for Broad Avenue Arts District apartments on Nov. 20.

There are two dedicated gay bars operating in Memphis, both located in Madison Heights. Though gay bars are on the decline across the U.S., Dru's Bar and The Pumping Station are still well-loved spots to socialize and to organize politically.
