As her father underwent open-heart surgery, Memphis volleyball star Amanda Hardt faced her own battle — a torn ACL suffered in the third set of a Sept. 16 match against Ole Miss.

At the time of her injury, the junior ranked fifth in the nation with 166 kills and was the two-time reigning American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week. Her 31 kills and 33 points in the Tigers’ Sept. 11 win over Chattanooga were the most by a Memphis player since 2002.
