It’s time again for the quarterly Memphis Grizzlies Mailbag. In this edition, Herrington talks about the NBA team and also gets into movies and Christmas.

Drew Hill and Chris Herrington discuss the Grizzlies’ loss at Dallas and what went wrong in the final moments for Memphis. 

Due to Morant’s suspension and injuries to both players, they shared the court together in only two games. But they built a strong connection in a short period of time.

The Mavericks shot 26 free throws in the final quarter, while the Grizzlies shot 14 over the course of the entire game. The final free throw tally finished Dallas 44, Memphis 14.

Dallas trailed 111-103 with 3:34 to play and went on a 16-3 run capped by two 3-pointers, winning despite Ja Morant’s 31 points.

The basketball Tigers are ranked. The football Tigers are ranked at the same time. When has that happened during a Grizzlies playoff season? Never. These are heady times. 

No one in the NBA is generating more assists on fewer passes than Ja Morant. It is a reflection of the unique skill Morant possesses: hang time. 

Why are the Grizzlies entering this week with a six-game winning streak, tied with the Orlando Magic for the longest active one in the league? Part of it is due to the play of Smart and Clarke.

The Grizzlies erased a 19-point deficit to beat the Indiana Pacers on Sunday and finish the Thanksgiving homestand 4-0.

The Grizzlies whittled into the Pacers lead by halftime and outscored Indiana in the third quarter with Morant and Jaylen Wells pushing the offense.

Grizzlies Insider: Ja Morant likely to play Friday against New Orleans

Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant led with 27 points and seven assists. Forward Jaren Jackson Jr. had 23 points and eight rebounds for Memphis, while Santi Aldama added 20 points and went 8 of 9 from the field.

Ja Morant is likely to play on Friday against New Orleans. He has crushed the Pelicans in recent games, scoring 30-plus points in four of the last five meetings. 

Marcus Smart heard some of the chatter about his move to the bench, and he responded by sparking the Grizzlies in a win over the Pistons on Wednesday night.

Marcus Smart was 8 of 12 from the field, including 7 of 11 from outside the arc. Scotty Pippen Jr. and Jake LaRavia finished with 19 points apiece, Pippen adding seven rebounds. Four more Grizzlies finished in double figures.

Ja Morant was ruled out of Wednesday’s game against the Pistons with a knee contusion.
