Where are the 2026 Tigers projected to finish in the American Conference?

University of Memphis President Bill Hardgrave was upset at ESPN’s initial football power-index rankings that were recently released, coach Charles Huff told a crowd of Highland Hundred boosters at a kickoff party Monday evening.
Hardgrave reached out to athletic director Ed Scott to express his frustration, Huff said.
The FPI is a team performance predictor that gets updated throughout the season. The initial rankings suggest Memphis will finish fifth in the American Conference. That didn’t sit well with Hardgrave.
