Lakeland appoints city manager
After nearly two decades working for the City of Lakeland, Emily Harrell was officially named the suburb’s first female city manager in its nearly 50-year history on Thursday, Feb. 19.
The Lakeland Board of Commissioners unanimously approved an employee agreement with Harrell to serve in the role. She replaces former City Manager Michael Walker who was terminated by the board on Nov. 3 for “erosion of trust” involving several personnel decisions.
