Hundreds of jobs and a lazy river: New era of tourism begins for Landers Center

Representatives of several entities in DeSoto County officially christened a new day and purpose for the Landers Center on Thursday, Aug. 28, as the Southaven arena looks to draw more events.

The groundbreaking for the $85 million expansion is the latest step for a plan in the works for decades. The work includes a new 240-room Embassy Suites hotel and a major convention center expansion, connecting the new hotel directly to the convention center, creating a single, cohesive campus.
