DeSoto County supervisors approve tax-levy decrease

By , Daily Memphian Updated: September 03, 2025 4:00 AM CT | Published: September 03, 2025 4:00 AM CT

The DeSoto County Board of Supervisors approved a new tax levy for fiscal year 2025-2026 Tuesday, Sept. 2, lowering the countywide millage rate from 41.02 to 34.25.

The decision, made after more than two decades without a rate increase, was framed by County Administrator Vanessa Lynchard as a move to protect taxpayers after reappraisal while ensuring the continuation of crucial county services.

The meeting began with a review of some of the previous fiscal year’s accomplishments. Key highlights included the completion of a high-speed internet expansion project that brought service to nearly 12,000 previously unserved or underserved residents.
