Before Joseph Wells became a physical education teacher, he would punch in for his job at Firestone Auto Care, then look up at the clock as the hours ticked away. 

“You feel pretty good about helping people fix their cars and get back on the road,” Wells said. “It is helping people. But that was helping adults. 

“At football practice, I knew if I kept some of those kids out of trouble, I would be helping them for the rest of their lives.”

So Wells put down the car parts and he picked up a whistle full-time.
