5C Group says it plans to quadruple power at its Memphis data center with fuel cell technology

5C Group’s filing of a $575 million permit recently will enable the company to quadruple the power of its Memphis data center over the next six months, officials said.

The Canada-based company filed the permit Oct. 6 to update the existing facility, which will increase power from 20 kWh to 84 kWh — all without pulling from the MLGW grid, said 5C Group Chief Revenue Officer Brad Nimri.

“So the more power that you have to sell or lease, the more revenue it is,” Nimri said. “So if we get 10 more megawatts of capacity of power, then we can sell 10 megawatts more worth of revenue.”
