Supporters prepare to hit the ground running ahead of St. Jude’s biggest fundraising event
There are expected to be 22,000 people running in the St. Jude Memphis Marathon on Saturday morning, Dec. 6. (Patrick Lantrip/The Daily Memphian)
Shaun Pillai is one of 22,000 people participating in the St. Jude Memphis Marathon weekend on Saturday morning, Dec.6, and he knows that near the end of his race, he’ll be flagging and just wanting the pain to end.
But he also knows that just when the pain seems to be too much and running another step seems impossible, that’s also when the course takes him through the St. Jude campus. He willl see all those patients and their families lined up to cheer the runners on, smiling and yelling through their own troubles.
