Condos replacing Gus’s clears Collierville Planning Commission

By , Daily Memphian Published: February 05, 2026 7:08 PM CT

New mixed-use condominiums proposed for Collierville’s Historic District cleared the town’s Planning Commission on Thursday evening.

The project, endorsed by the Planning Commission, is proposed by David McLemore and Bart Thomas and would take the spot formerly occupied by Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken. The restaurant closed in 2022 after a new location opened on Forest Hill-Irene Road in Germantown.

John McCarty, who presented the project on behalf of developers, noted the project meets objectives outlined in the Downtown Small Area Plan, namely providing places for people live near Town Square to drive people to the restaurants and shops.
