Lakeland ‘renames’ its middle school for next school year

Lakeland School System is going back to its roots reviving the old name for its middle school.
The municipal school district Monday, Feb. 2, decided to rename the school back to Lakeland Middle Preparatory School, its original name when it opened in 2017. The change will take effect July 1, the start of the district’s next fiscal year.
In 2022, LSS opened a new $50 million high school wing on the 20-acre campus and changed the name of the school — which at that time had grades five through nine — to simply Lakeland Preparatory School.
