Signs of trouble: Inside the vandalism charges against Erika Sugarmon

The two misdemeanor citations accusing Shelby County Commissioner Erica Sugarmon of vandalizing campaign signs detail allegations that began at the end of the early voting period for the May county primaries.
Sugarmon allegedly drove to two early voting polling locations and took down the signs of several candidates on the ballot.
Sugarmon admitted she removed the signs, according to one of the Memphis Police Department affidavits that are part of the citations.
