Blazers backup quarterback helps UAB upset No. 22 Tigers

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The No. 22 Memphis Tigers were three-touchdown favorites heading into Saturday’s game at UAB.

The Blazers fired head coach Trent Dilfer earlier in the week and the team was without starting quarterback Jalen Kitna, who was averaging 296 passing yards per game, the eighth-most in the country.

All signs pointed to what was expected to be an easy win for the Tigers as they prepared for a top-25 showdown against No. 19 South Florida next week.
