Overwhelming joy: How LaQuita Hughes landed her dream home after tragedy, grief, and a life full of challenges

In early March, LaQuita Hughes received the keys to her new home and went inside in disbelief of finally owning a house.

“I was like, ‘This is everything I wanted,’” she said.

The pink, three-story Victorian style residence is in a quiet neighborhood in Walls, Mississippi, just a half hour from Memphis.
