Belly Acres owners have beef, according to two lawsuits

By , Daily Memphian Published: July 08, 2026 4:00 AM CT

After years of disputes and multiple Belly Acres locations either closed or called off, two lawsuits shed light on the long-running conflict between the owners.

Court documents filed in Shelby County Chancery Court on Tuesday, June 23, and Monday, July 6, detail prolonged issues between two groups of Belly Acres owners: Harold “Lee” Scifres and his wife, Jennifer, and brothers Adam and Brian Leith.

The Leiths, owners of Leith Co. Limited LLC (LCL), are suing the Scifres for hundreds of thousands of dollars and seeking their removal from the companies the four co-own. The Leiths are also seeking a temporary restraining order preventing the Scifres from revoking the Leiths’ franchising rights, making additional unauthorized bank withdrawals or transferring any of the companies’ assets.

In a counterclaim filed on Monday, July 6, the Scifreses denied the allegations, requested compensatory damages from the Leiths and also want them expelled from the company.
