After years of problems with the posting of election returns on its website, the Shelby County Election Commission has switched to a new system that also features precinct-by-precinct results and maps.
The Shelby County Election Commission decided Thursday that a Collierville runoff will be held Dec. 10 to fill the office held by Alderman John Worley.
Mayor-elect Maureen Fraser is committed to a temporary halt on apartment construction. Chad Lindsay and Nick Robbins, facing each other in a Dec. 10 runoff, support her position.
Local Democrats are examining their tactics in a low-turnout presidential general election. Meanwhile, fewer local Republicans voted for President-elect Donald Trump than four years ago even as U.S. Sen. Marsha Blackburn grew her countywide totals.
Voting isn’t over for Collierville residents. The town will head back to the polls in December to settle a runoff for one alderman position. Plus, two appointments must be made.
The unofficial election results released Nov. 6 show the presidential general election drew a majority of voters in Shelby County, but not by much. President-elect Donald Trump won fewer local votes this year than in 2020.

After the presidential general election, those on the prevailing side already moving on plans that were made as voters were casting ballots. Those on the losing side were weighing close margins between the ideologies.
On Tuesday, Memphis voters also approved giving the City Council the ability to set its own salaries. Previously, the council’s salaries were indexed to the Shelby County Board of Commissioners.
Those who cast ballots at the Southaven school didn’t face lines. But the Mississippi Secretary of State reported high traffic at polls across the state.

Tom Bailey took the open school board seat. Wanda Gibbs earned a second four-year term.
Incumbents sailed to victory Tuesday night. The only contested race in Germantown was between Andy Ellis and Vicki Gandee.
Kevin Quinn won a second term as Bartlett alderman, defeating two challengers. School board races in the suburb were decided without opposition.
The Tennessee Republican supermajority did not crack in Memphis on Tuesday with Rep. John Gillespie beating Democratic challenger Jesse Huseth and retaining the state House of Representatives District 97 seat.
