Whitney Winkler, a transplant from Illinois, didn’t foresee becoming an artist or owning a studio in Memphis, but motherhood led her there.
Winkler said art has been a way to express herself throughout her life, and she began painting when she became a mother.
“Painting was a way I could see something start to finish in one sitting and feel like I created and produced something that day,” she said. “The mundaneness of motherhood was the spark of art for me.”
