‘It’s going in the wrong direction’: Assessor sounds alarm on county tax base

Recently elected Shelby County Assessor of Property Javier Bailey Sr. released a “State of the County Tax Base” report last week, punctuating it with a press conference Monday, Sept. 28.
In addition to outlining the challenges he said the county faces, Bailey is also working to organize a summit in November to find solutions.
