The legal battle between Belly Acres’ two ownership groups for control of the brand will continue after an initial court appearance this week.
Plaintiff Adam Leith, with ownership group Leith Co. Ltd., and Harold “Lee” Scifres, Belly Acres majority brand owner, the defendant, appeared in Shelby County Chancery Court Tuesday, Aug. 4.
The plaintiffs, Adam Leith and his brother, had asked for a temporary restraining order to prevent the defendants, Lee Scifres and his wife, from accessing the various companies’ funds and revoking the plaintiffs’ franchising rights. Also in question was the Leiths’ right to continue managing Belly Acres’ sole remaining location in Southaven.
