Analyzing how Memphis’ run-heavy offense compares to previous years

By , Daily Memphian Updated: October 02, 2025 7:05 PM CT | Published: October 02, 2025 6:10 PM CT

This year’s Memphis offense is on a path unlike any offense the Tigers have had under sixth-year head coach Ryan Silverfield.

Memphis is heading into Saturday’s home game against Tulsa (7 p.m., ESPNU) averaging more rushing yards than passing yards for the first time since 2018. Running backs Darrell Henderson and Patrick Taylor Jr. each eclipsed 1,000 yards rushing that season.

Twenty-five pass attempts per game this season are the fewest for Memphis since it averaged 23.6 in 2012.
