When Memphis football coach Charles Huff was a young pup in the profession, he sent a letter to all 32 NFL coaches asking for advice on how to be better.

Former Buffalo Bills coach Chan Gailey was one of three coaches to respond. Gailey ended up bringing Huff onto his staff in 2012. Tom Coughlin and Ron Rivera were the other two coaches to respond to Huff’s letter.

Huff started his coaching career in 2006. He has been a head coach since 2021 when he took over the job at Marshall. Huff led the Thundering Herd to a 2024 Sun Belt Championship. He spent last season at Southern Miss. Huff led the Golden Eagles to a 7-6 record a year after the program finished 1-11.
